Dude teaches girlfriend's 12-year-old trash-talking younger brother a lesson in video games: 'His friends were now laughing at him and he was on the verge of tears'

It's generally accepted that you should let kids win at things there's nothing more embarrassing than watching a grown adult demolish kids in sports or games. (The iconic "Billy Madison" scene of Adam Sandler playing dodgeball with kids comes to mind.) Of course, there are exceptions to this rule—like if you're an uncle—and there's more of a grey area around how long this should go on.

When they're really young, it's more about maintaining their interest in the game you're playing together. And nothing destroys early interest in most young kids like an absolute trouncing. When they get a bit older and into their teen years, depending on the relationship, you get a free pass to whip them into shape and teach them another life lesson: that nothing in life comes easy.

A lot of us have probably mistakenly assumed that our superiority, experience, and skill will allow us to continue to win things uncontested… That is until your younger brother is suddenly bigger and stronger than you, and now you can't relentlessly pick on him or take him in a fight—and find that it's actually probably the other way around…

Or, a bit later in life, when your kids start whopping you at Fortnite and Mario Kart, and you realize that your waning interest in gaming and slowing reaction times are inevitable as the sands of time trickle down in a stream of grains and the cold hands of death reach out towards you…

This dude usually took it easy on his girlfriend's kid brother when they played video games, but that stopped when he overheard the 12-year-old trash-talking him and his skills. In typical gamer fashion, he challenged the little man to a 1-v-1 in Call of Duty and granted him a humiliating defeat in front of his friends, which sent the kid storming off in tears to his room. The problem was that this put him offside with his girlfriend, sending him to this online community to see whether or not he was right for teaching the kid a lesson.
